Bouncebacks

Bouncebacks are snapshot surveys that allow you to target a specific group of students about a specific set of issues, as a follow up to the Barometer process. Bouncebacks enable you to follow-up on results concerning the decision-making, perceptions, expectations and experiences of students.
Typically, 85% of students agree to answer further questions when they complete the ISB/SB. So for example, if students are unhappy with a particular area of their university experience, we can go back to those students with a short set of questions relating to the issue. Students tend to respond well to this process, instead of seeing it as ‘yet another survey’, the Bounceback is seen as a dialogue – you’ve taken on board what students have said and gone back for further clarification.
The questions are relatively quick and easy to answer so you are likely to achieve a high response rate. Bounceback themes vary and may cover:
- Catering
- Accommodation
- Students’ union
- Students who would recommend institution – harness the support of your biggest ambassadors
- Students who would discourage others from applying to your institution – find out why and turn this group around
- Student support services

Benchmarking

Data collected through the ISB and SB initiative allows you to gain in-depth insights into the populations of specific groups of students – by subject area, level, nationality and so on. In addition, you can add a benchmark comparing results from your institution, department or faculty against a specific sector index.
